Sowing today the global citizens of tomorrow

Why this project?

Climate change. Collapse of biodiversity. Inequality. Cultural fractures. Faced with these challenges, one question stands out:

How do we prepare young people to build the world of tomorrow?

At ABRAM, we are convinced that some answers cannot be learned from books. They must be lived.

Since 2014, we have been building bridges between Luxembourg and Brazil, with farmers, teachers, artisans, traditional communities and Indigenous peoples of the Cerrado. All share one conviction: it is possible to produce differently, to live differently, to build societies with greater respect for the living world.

It is from this history that SEMEDOKI was born.

A place that welcomes our young people

In the heart of the Cerrado, in Cavalcante (State of Goiás), the Recanto dos Pássaros is ABRAM’s living laboratory in Brazil. It is here that, year after year, our young Luxembourgers are welcomed for their immersion: workshops in permaculture, agroforestry and eco-construction, learning about water management and ecosystem restoration.

The site can host up to twenty people at once and welcomes an average of thirty-six volunteers, interns or trainers each year. But to keep receiving groups with dignity, it lacks one essential piece of infrastructure: a sanitary block.

That is exactly what the 2026 cohort will build.

What participants will experience

In August 2026, twelve young Luxembourgers and eight young Brazilians will live through three weeks of full immersion. They will take part in a hands-on building project – the construction of the ecological sanitary block – and learn by doing, alongside local artisans and trainers.

They will also share the daily life of those who are already experimenting with the solutions of tomorrow, and experience an immersion with the Indigenous Krahô people and the Kalunga community, whose ancestral knowledge offers another way of thinking about our relationship with the Earth, with time and with the living world.

This is not a trip. It is a school of encounter, of cooperation and of the living world.

An impact that lasts

Over twelve years, more than twenty young Luxembourgers have already lived this adventure. Their paths differ, but all return transformed, more independent, more open, more engaged. And what they learn is reinvested in the schools, associations and projects of the participants, in Luxembourg as in Brazil.

The sanitary block, for its part, will remain. Over five years, this infrastructure should directly benefit more than 180 people welcomed on the site (young people, volunteers, trainers). Every donation builds a permanent legacy.

What your support will fund

In full transparency: your donation funds the construction of the ecological sanitary block at the Recanto dos Pássaros, the infrastructure that will welcome the coming groups of young people. The rest of the SEMEDOKI 26 budget (travel, stay, activities) is already covered by other partners and by ABRAM’s own funds.

€3,000 – Technical supervision of the building site: guiding and training the young builders

€8,000 – + Earthworks, foundations and safety equipment: the site gets under way

€14,800 – + Masonry, framework and roofing: the building takes shape

€18,000 – + Cladding, finishes, doors and windows: the block is sealed

€20,000 – + Complete sanitary installations: 2 showers, 2 toilets, 2 washbasins, water supply and drainage. The block is operational.

Budget breakdown: construction of the building (€11,800), sanitary installations (€3,200), technical supervision (€3,000), materials and safety (€2,000). Total: €20,000, entirely dedicated to the sanitary block.

It will help a generation grow that is able to build bridges rather than walls, to cooperate rather than oppose, to care for the living world rather than exhaust it.
