Campaign Story

To Make Family Life Easier. Healthier. Happier

Becoming a parent is a radical change in life: habits, schedules, social life. You live at your child’s pace, and going out can become a real challenge. Most of the time, parents stay at home and ignore their need to get out and socialise, which leads to isolation without them really realising it, and causes them to run out of steam.
The ‘Family Friendly’ label was born out of this observation, to combine the pleasure of children and the interest of parents, and thus contribute to the well-being of families. Because happy parents make happy children.
The project covers the labelling of establishments (cafés, restaurants, third places, etc.), and may also extend to activities (parent-child workshops, conferences, etc.).

 

 

 

The label has 3 criteria represented by small clouds to which the various establishments will have to adapt to become ‘family friendly’:

‘FEEL GOOD »: Because we prefer to change our babies on an appropriate table in the men’s and women’s toilets, rather than on the floor, on their knees or on restaurant tables. Highchairs are also available. Details that help to comfort and to spend a cosy moment together.

‘HAPPY MOOD: Because family outings should be synonymous with sharing, pleasure, serenity, joy and games, and no longer with everyone on their own phone. Our venues offer an activity kit featuring environmentally friendly games that reflect our values.

‘HEALTHY FOOD: Because we want to promote healthy, balanced dishes to our children, rather than the traditional nuggets, burgers and chips. Some dishes on the menu may be changed to half portions.

Menus, occupancy, equipment… everything is taken into account to guarantee an optimal parent-child experience!

Through the label, we’re also supporting businesses that share our values, and helping them to win the loyalty of an often overlooked clientele who just want to spend some quality time together as a family. These outings will also provide an opportunity for children and parents to meet up and have fun together.

 

We’re aiming for €5,000 in funding to create the equipment needed to label spaces that meet the Family Friendly criteria.

Printing stickers: We will be printing 1,000 stickers featuring the label to give visibility and recognition to the awarded establishments. 100 transparent stickers to be affixed to the front of the establishments. 900 stickers that can be given to children who would like to take home a souvenir of a good time spent with their family.

Printed placemats: For restaurants and cafés, we’ll be supplying placemats made from recycled paper with coloring birds that can be found in Luxembourg. A project in partnership with the non-profit organisation ‘Proyecto Ave’, whose mission is to encourage love and respect for nature through knowledge.

Creation of an activity kit: We’ll be supplying the labelled sites with an activity kit that will be made available free of charge to the youngest members of the family for a peaceful and fun family outing. The kit will include eco-responsible games in line with our values.

Who is behind this project?

Cécile Devroye, founder of the non-profit organisation Co-Créateurs, which promotes social and solidarity-based entrepreneurship and provides collective support for people who dare to take the step of turning their passion into a vocation. She has been running the ‘Family Friendly Label’ project since 2019, with the help of other members of staff to whom she owes a great deal.
Here she shares her story with us…

Becoming a parent is a timeless adventure for which I was not prepared. As the single mother of a little girl now aged 7, she came into my life without warning… an unexpected miracle, a veritable tidal wave of happiness, joy, fears, solitude, sunshine… .
I remember that freeze frame in my life when I felt isolated during the first stages of his life. I soon felt the need to rediscover a social life, but where could I go? Where could I find a peaceful place for her and me? A place where she can occupy herself while I breathe in a cup of tea without having to run off for half an hour because at that age, you’re full of energy.
That’s how the adventure of the Family Friendly label began… a label that allows parents to identify the little corners of ‘paradise’ that are welcoming and adapted to families, so that they feel like they’re on cloud nine’.
