Campaign Description
Who are we?
Seniors for Climate Luxembourg is a network of citizens aged 50+ who are committed to:
- —Protecting the climate, nature, biodiversity and our planet as a whole
- —Safeguarding the quality of life of future generations, our children and our grandchildren
- —Preserving the rights to life and health of people affected by the climate crisis
- —Raising awareness and informing the public about our causes by sharing our experiences
Inspired in 2022 by the visit of the KlimaSeniorinnen — the first to have held a state accountable for its climate failures before the European Court of Human Rights — and with the support of Greenpeace Luxembourg, Seniors for Climate Luxembourg came together. Since then, an active core of around ten volunteers has been participating in climate demonstrations, organising information stands, and giving talks in secondary schools and adult education centres with the exhibition « As time goes by ». All united by a shared conviction: it is never too late to act. The Facebook page has more than 280 followers. Alongside the joint activities of Seniors for Climate Luxembourg, each member is engaged in various areas and shares information within the network. This creates pools of information, synergies, ideas and the seeds of new joint projects. Anyone committed to the cause is welcome.
Why this crowdfunding?
All activities carried out since 2022 have been organised on a voluntary basis by Seniors for Climate Luxembourg and funded through private means. The motivation for volunteering is very much alive. Ideas and approaches for new projects and activities are plentiful. In order to implement the planned activities for 2026, we need €8,500.

As time goes by
Exhibition, conference and exchanges in 10 schools, and digitisation of the exhibition

Period photographs and living testimonies recall that fifty years ago, ponds froze every winter and snow reached over a metre deep in the Éisléck — realities that are unthinkable today. Help us bring this unique testimony into classrooms and civic events across Luxembourg.
Why this project?
Everyone has heard about climate change. But too few people realise how visible it already is here, in Luxembourg, right on our doorstep.
Our approach is deliberately unconventional: we do not show temperature graphs. We show a 1963 photograph of fishermen posing on the frozen Moselle. We have a former ski instructor speak — someone who trained hundreds of local racers every weekend. We display the front page of a local newspaper featuring the « Ski Club de la Vallée de la Moselle ».
These images speak directly to people — and that is precisely what younger generations need to understand the urgency, without being paralysed by abstraction.
TROP CHAUD — the Senior Women for Climate vs. Switzerland
Film screening in the presence of the Swiss Senior Women for Climate, followed by a panel discussion and reception — Awareness campaign

We want to invite the Luxembourg public to see this film and to meet the Swiss Senior Women for Climate in person. We are convinced that this exchange will open eyes and inspire new perspectives and actions among many people in Luxembourg. We will book a screening room at the Utopia cinema in Limpertsberg for an exclusive showing and invite Luxembourg experts and decision-makers from various fields to take part in a multilingual panel discussion.

The spectre of climate change haunts us. Why, despite the warnings and the dangers ahead, are we unable to find answers to the greatest challenge of our time? TOO HOT tells the unprecedented story of a group of Swiss women citizens and their standoff with the federal government. What emerges is a dialogue of the deaf, ultimately leading to the European Court of Human Rights. An extraordinary adventure of tenacity, collective will and justice.

While the approach initially seemed utopian — especially after eight years of struggle — it ultimately led to a landmark ruling that made headlines around the world: on 9 April 2024, the ECHR ruled that protection against the potentially lethal effects of climate change is a human right. A true triumph for « Les Aînées pour le climat ». Yet the condescension shown by the Swiss government and parliament was pitiful.
Never too old! Never too late! Seniors for Climate Luxembourg
100 organic fairtrade T-shirts, for sale and visibility
We invite all responsible seniors to get this T-shirt and wear it with pride to show their goodwill and solidarity with future generations. We are never too old! It is never too late! We are the Seniors for Climate!
The organic winegrower and climate change
Film production with the Lycée des Arts & Métiers, coordination, awareness campaign
In the first film, Seniors for Climate members share their personal experiences, memories, and their journey of commitment to the climate and to future generations. This second documentary gives the floor to organic winegrower Joé Beissel from Bous and shows, in his vineyards, the impact of climate change on organic viticulture. A series of documentaries covering other agricultural sectors is planned for the coming years.
The distribution and screening of these films reaches both adults and young people. But even during production, these films bring people of different generations together for the cause, as they are made in close collaboration with students from the Lycée des Arts et Métiers.
Funding tiers
Every euro counts. But we know that a crowdfunding campaign does not guarantee reaching its maximum goal. That is why we have defined 4 clear tiers, so that your support has a concrete impact regardless of the total amount raised:
Every donation brings us closer to a tier. And each tier reached means more people motivated to protect the climate, nature, biodiversity and our planet as a whole — for the quality of life of future generations, our children and our grandchildren, and for preserving the rights to life and health of those affected by the climate crisis.
- Tier 1: €2,000
As time goes by — Exhibition, conference and exchanges in 10 schools, and digitisation of the exhibition - Tier 2: €5,400
Tier 1 + TROP CHAUD — the Senior Women for Climate vs. Switzerland: Film screening in the presence of the Swiss Senior Women for Climate, followed by a panel discussion and reception, awareness campaign - Tier 3: €7,900
Tier 2 + Never too old! Never too late! Seniors for Climate Luxembourg: 100 organic fairtrade T-shirts, for sale and visibility as well as for funding future projects - Tier 4: €8,500
Tier 3 + The organic winegrower and climate change: Film production with the Lycée des Arts & Métiers, coordination, external costs, awareness campaign

Why this commitment — local and global context
Everyone sees the wars, destruction, exploitation, fear, pandemics, disasters, climate change and the disappearance of species.
And these problems are pitted against one another, when in fact they are all interconnected. As seniors, we have been observing these connections and developments for decades:
A handful of people are hungry for land, natural resources, control of routes from A to B, as well as power and profit. They continue to demand endless capitalist growth fuelled by fossil energies, all on a planet with finite resources. For 30 or 40 years, they have held sway over scientists and environmentalists, clinging to obsolete but lucrative techniques. People have been systematically pushed towards disposable consumption, forced to bear excessive prices or exploited and underpaid. The systems put in place for this purpose have become increasingly complex and costly.
Many feel overwhelmed, deceived as victims, or unjustly accused of being responsible. Many politicians, business leaders and media representatives lack perspective.
But the Earth is round and small, and everything is connected. A healthy Earth, healthy human beings. It really is that simple. Homo sapiens needed — and still needs — this narrow climatic window and biodiversity to live and thrive.
More and more people want to work better together and jointly promote more sustainable systems for a fair future. We want to contribute to that.
Luxembourg
Luxembourg is a small country with a small population. « What can we do? » one might say. But Luxembourg is also the second wealthiest country in the world, with the second highest CO2 emissions per capita in the world, a globally active financial sector, and tax models for wealthy and powerful individuals and corporations at the international level. Luxembourg is therefore neither small nor innocent when it comes to the world’s dramatic crises. At the same time, Luxembourg has a poor track record on poverty, with glaring inequalities that continue to widen systematically. But Luxembourg is not a two-faced island.
More and more people in Luxembourg want to work better together and jointly promote more sustainable systems for a fair future. We want to contribute to that.
